Hi, I'm Neil Clulow
The developer behind DevButler (devbutler.io). You work directly with me — not a sales team, not a project manager, not an offshore handoff.
I'm a hands-on software engineer who builds custom software, websites, and practical AI — end to end. DevButler is a deliberately small, one-person operation: when you hire DevButler, you hire me, and I write the code myself.
How I work
Most software gets diluted on its way from the person who needs it to the person who builds it. I cut that chain out. You explain the problem to me directly, I architect and build the solution, and I stay involved through launch and beyond. That means faster decisions, fewer misunderstandings, and software that actually does what you need — without the overhead of an agency layered on top.
I use AI tools heavily to move faster on routine work, but every decision that matters — architecture, data modelling, security, the trade-offs that determine whether software lasts — comes from experience, not a model. Speed with judgement, not speed instead of it.

Where I work
I work remotely with clients wherever they are. Everything runs over the tools you already use — email, calls, and shared docs — so location is never a blocker to getting your software built.
